The Veterinary Specialist Centre has a state of the art diagnostic laboratory on-site including biochemistry (assessment of organ function), haematology (blood cell counts and examination), urinalysis (analysis of urine) and cytology (examination of cells from tissues) services. This advanced facility is unmatched by any other clinic in Sydney.
This means that the majority of the important blood and urine tests can be run virtually immediately ensuring that your precious pet’s diagnostics test results can usually be available within an hour. If a patient is found to be anaemic and require blood transfusion, we have blood products available from our blood bank for dogs and cats 24 hrs a day.
The laboratory is open 24 hrs a day and having access to rapid results means that your sick pet’s prognosis and treatment plan can be determined as quickly as possible. Also, the quick turn around time that our laboratory can provide can help your veterinarian fine tune your pet’s treatment.
Sometimes more specialised tests need to sent to an external laboratory. By working closely with several of these commercial (external) laboratories we are able to provide your pet with the widest range of diagnostic tests possible.
Our state of the art laboratory has its own dedicated Laboratory Technician, Ruth Schumi, to ensure the highest standard of quality control and the reliability of results.
