Emergency CareThe Veterinary Specialist Centre, in conjunction with the Animal Critical Care and Emergency Service provides 24 hour care for your pet. Even in the middle of the night or the weekend there is a fully trained nurse and a veterinarian present in the hospital, providing vigilant care for your pet.
The hospital is well equipped to provide intensive care facilities. If your pet requires fluid therapy, a fluid pump is used to provide the precise volumes of fluids prescribed. Their vital signs are closely monitored.

The hospital is equipped with a large array of monitoring equipment. This includes monitors for continuous electrocardiographic (ECG) assessment, blood pressure, and the oxygenation level of the blood. We have a number of specialised machines in our laboratory to check body systems, including blood counts, biochemical testing, and even to check the precise level of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your pet’s blood. We have an oxygen cage to provide supplemental oxygen to patients that are having breathing difficulty.
The hospital always stocks tick antiserum and snake antivenom for immediate therapy if required. In the case of patients with severe breathing problems, ventilators are also available to assist your pet’s breathing.
In addition we always have one of our specialists on call – so even in the middle of the night your pet can have specialist care if necessary.
